Charles E. Adams, Jr., PhD. is a member of the Chippewa Tribe of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. His Native American name is Aazhibiknini. He is a retired Professor of Physical Oceanography at the Department of Oceanography and Coastal Sciences at the Coastal Studies Institute, Louisiana State University. He has authored numerous scientific, peer-reviewed works in the marine sciences. Adams served in the U.S. Navy for more than 10 years.
